All Ireland winning hurler Jonathan Clancy tied the knot to his long term girlfriend Mairead Mulvey in a stunning Christmas wedding this weekend.
The former All-star nominee and his beautiful bride said their “I do’s” in front of family and friends at Ss. Peter and Paul’s Cathedral, Ennis before dancing the night away at The Falls Hotel, Ennistymon.
The orange weather warning and terrible local floods didn’t dampen the spirits of this young couple who were visibly ecstatic throughout the whole day.
Speaking exclusively to RSVP Magazine, the bride said: “I am having the best day ever, this has to be the best day of my life.”
Jonathan burst on the Clare hurling scene in the mid noughties and revolutionised the midfield area as Clare reached All Ireland semi-finals in 2005 and 2006, the Clarecastle man also received an All Star nomination in 2008 before he added an All-Ireland Senior Hurling Championship medal to his glittering career in 2013.
Mairead’s father, Tony Mulvey, a well-known and respected journalist with The Clare Champion newspaper spoke of Jonathan’s achievements with the banner county and how proud he was to welcome him into their close knit family.
Twenty eight year old Mairead couldn’t hold back her emotions as her father spoke jubilantly about his “little girl” and his delight at celebrating her big day.
Some invited guests on the day included former Clare boss Ger “Sparrow” O’Loughlin, All- Ireland winner Patrick Kelly and former Clare TD, Donal Carey.
Jonathan and Mairead told RSVP that their next step is celebrating their honeymoon in Africa for Christmas and the New Year.
