Instead of waking up with happy memories after her wedding day, Hollie Syme was mortified by recollections of slurry speeches, drunken dancing, vomiting and falling out with her new husband, all in front of their 110 guests.
Charity fundraiser Hollie, 26, found husband Dan, 33, asleep on the sofa, in another room. She says: “I’ve never felt so ashamed. I had to beg him for forgiveness.”
The morning after her wedding, Hollie’s ring was missing — and so was her husband.
All she had to show for her £20,000 day was a £1,000 white gown with her vomit on it.
Her big day, in July 2014, began well as she sipped prosecco with her four bridesmaids as they got ready in her hotel room.
But nerves began to creep in and Hollie found herself drinking more and more to stay calm.
She told The Sun: “By noon, the bridesmaids and I had sunk seven bottles of prosecco between us.
“During the speeches I stood up and did my own — unplanned. I rambled for ten minutes.”
The next morning, Hollie woke with a raging hangover. She says: “It was so surreal. I didn’t know where I was then I realised it was the day after my wedding. I was mortified and started crying.
“I woke Dan up and he told me what had happened. But he didn’t give me a hard time.
“We both searched for my ring, which we found under the bed in the hotel suite. I started worrying about my in-laws — I was so embarrassed to face them.
“I had wanted to be a beautiful, classy bride. Instead, I ended up making a fool of myself.”
