Celebrity wedding photographer Jenny McCarthy has announced the latest date for her WeddingsByJen masterclasses, kicking off in June, and a ticket may just be the perfect day out for someone in your life planning their big day.

As a bride to be myself, I couldn’t recommend the masterclass highly enough. I was lucky enough to attend the first on November 26th in Killashee Hotel Spa and Leisure, and believe me when I say it was an eye-opener.

Here’s just some of the tips I picked up.

Take your dress out of the bag, THE SECOND you arrive

Forget about being worried someone will see your dress, unless your dress is a short style, the length means it will be bunched up at the end of the bag. And the longer the dress stays in the bag you collected it in, the longer it is sitting and creasing. And trust us, trying to find a safe way to iron your dress on the morning of the wedding is not something you need.

Pack in advance

Jenny strongly advises having your overnight bag packed at least the night before. Let’s face it you’ll be up to ninety the day off your wedding and it’s not the time to be worrying about what make-up you need to take, or your outfit for the next day. Packing the bag you’ll need to take the hotel is something you can do in advance so prioritise this to be done in the week coming up to your wedding. Anything that is going to save you stress on the day, you will thank yourself for trust us!

Timing is Everything

This is a point Jenny makes over and over again, you might think things running five or ten minutes late here and there are no big deal, but they all add up and no matter what time you get to your drink reception, the bell for dinner is still going to ring at the same time. Make sure you can actually have the time to spend with your guests and enjoy your own drinks reception by planning out the timings on the morning. For example, for a 1pm ceremony you should aim to be ready 40 minutes beforehand to give time for photos and to get to the church.

Have a spare shirt for the groom

How many grooms have you seen with filthy collars before they even make it inside the church thanks to all the congratulatory kisses and hugs from his female friends and family? Jenny advises someone having a damp washcloth to hand, to undo the worst of the damage on suit shoulders, as well as having a clean white shirt, he can quickly change into if needs be for the photos.

That was just a handful of the extensive tips on the day, but in addition brides, their bridesmaids and any mothers of the bride/groom will also:

  • Find out Jenny’s do’s and don’ts for the wedding day
  • Get hair, makeup and skincare advice from Ireland’s leading professionals
  • Get styling tips for the bride, groom, bridal party, guests and more!
  • Enjoy a luxurious afternoon tea with Prosecco
  • Go home with a fabulous goodie bag
  • Win some spot prizes throughout the day

If you’d like to treat a bride in your life to a girly day out, Jenny’s next masterclass is coming to Dunboyne Castle Hotel on the 11th of June, 2017
