TOP 5 Styles of Alternative Wedding Dresses From Pinterest

As always, it’s no surprise that we here in RSVP love all things weddings. With weddings, you can really do anything to make it your own. Feel like wearing a daring gúna? Go for it. Floral printed ones were fast becoming a trend last year. Feel like having the bridesmaids in mix-matched dresses? Why not. It’s a great trend and a way for the girls to show off their style and have fun with it (plus they’ll more than likely wear the dresses agin!).

Who nowadays says you have to wear all white anyway? It’s your day, wear something you feel a million dollars in.

Here I have picked some of my favourite alternative dresses from every corner of the Pinterest Wedding Section. Enjoy! (And if it’s not your thing, and a white dress is, at least appreciate the pretty dresses).

1 – THE FLORAL DRESS.

Perfect for a spring/early summer wedding. Match the flowers from your dress to the flowers on the day, the decor and the colour theme. Even the cake! Flowers are a lovely romantic symbol, but too much can be over-kill, so maybe keep in mind simple is sometimes best.

(And if your dress is slightly more on the plain, traditional side, but you want to add a bit more of a kick to it, check out these to die for heels. I mean seriously….wow.)

2 – THE COLOURED DRESS

Coloured dresses can be a bold step…but if it’s your thing, rock it. As seen in one of the dresses below, a pale blue colour is really nice if getting married by the sea, or what’s ever been wrong with a blushing bride? A wedding dress can still be mostly white, and just have a hint of colour, but it’s up to you. Style your wedding around the colour of your dress too. It’s quite classy.

(Example of styling your dress colour around your wedding… see? Super nice).

3 – THE GLITZY DRESS

What can I say really? Shine bright like a diamond.

4 – WHY WEAR A DRESS ANYWAY?

If dresses aren’t you thing, and the whole trend of bridesmaids in jumpsuits is sooo almost run into the ground, why not wear one yourself? A gorgeous jumpsuit I mean… take a look at some samples below that are trending on Pinterest.

5 – MIX-MATCHED BRIDESMAIDS

Technically not an ‘alternative wedding dress’ but, they are dresses, and they are worn at weddings so…
This a trend I personally hope sticks. I think it’s fun, beautiful and so unique. Lets the girls pick out dresses to suit their own style and body shapes. They’ll look and feel more comfortable. And will more likely wear the dress again. If you’re not too gone on the idea, maybe set some ground rules. Have a colour theme they have to follow, or style (such as short, or strapless or long and flowy).
