Bride Susan recalls special highlights from her stunning wedding to husband Peter Burke…
THE DATE
17th of April 2015
THE LOCATION
We got married in The Killeshin Hotel, we had both decided we didn’t want a church wedding.
THE DRESS
I actually went all the way to Cashel Dromahair in Co.Leitrim for my dress. The shop was called Loves Legacy Bridal Wear and Nicola who runs it is an absolute pleasure to deal with. It was lace and most of the detail of the dress was on the back. It also had a short train. I loved it because it was elegant and timeless.
HAIR & MAKE UP
MAKE UP: Frieda Archbold. She was lovely and I wish I had her every day. I felt fabulous!
HAIR: My hair was done by Natasha Caffrey she is very talented. I had always said I would go to her when I was getting married.
WEDDING BAND
The wedding bands are very simple and came from Sterling Jewellers in Newbridge.
THE PHOTOGRAPHER
Aaron Leonard was the photographer, we loved his natural and easy going style, and were delighted with the photos
THE RECEPTION
One of the reasons we chose The Killeshin Hotel was the food, it’s gorgeous! Everything ran so smoothly and everyone was delighted with the food and service. I couldn’t thank the staff enough
HIGHLIGHTS
One of my highlights was totally unplanned. My son James, who was only one and a half, refused to leave my Father’s arms as we stood to walk down the aisle, so in the end my Dad carried him with him. It was special to have my son walk me down the aisle too. Our daughter’s Amy and Lily looked so beautiful, I was so proud of them. My niece Ava and our nephews Paul and Jack were fantastic on the day too. The whole day was perfect in our eyes.
THE HONEYMOON
We didn’t go away after the wedding, as it wasn’t the right time with James still being so small. We have booked a trip to London for our anniversary, and I cant wait!
