Bride Selina recalls special highlights from her stunning wedding with husband Joseph Sweeney…
THE DATE
Saturday 26th September 2015
THE LOCATION
St. Senan’s Church, Kilrush, Co. Clare
THE DRESS
I bought my dress from Ann in the Bridal Emporium in Miltown Malbay. I had bought dresses from Ann previously, so I knew in advance how professional she and her team were. I knew she would find me the perfect dress and that I wouldn’t be disappointed.
The dress was a sheer, ivory off the shoulder A-line dress. It had lots of beautiful embellished diamonds on the bodice with lace embellishment throughout. Ann teamed the dress with a fabulous long train, which had very intricate diamonds throughout. It will certainly be a family heirloom going forward. My dress was light and so comfortable to wear all day. I didn’t want to take it off!!
HAIR & MAKE UP
HAIR: Our hair was styled by the fabulous stylists in Michael Coyne’s hair salon in Kilrush. I had lots of trial with Pamela, who styled my hair. My hair is difficult to style as it is long and silky. She was such a pleasure to work with. They even opened early to accommodate us.
MAKE UP: I chose two different beauticians. Beauty by Dee beautified my three fabulous bridesmaids. She ensured they all looked elegantly beautiful. Judy Crowley, my mom’s favourite beautician was just fabulous. She came to our house that morning and she fitted right into the chaos that was. She began with me first. My only requirement was to look effortless.. and that I was. Once I was done she sat Mom down and started the easy job of beautifying her. We were so grateful to both ladies and so delighted with the results.

THE RECEPTION
We chose The Armada Hotel in Spanish Point. It was always my top location. The views alone are second to none. Marita, the wedding coordinator, was just amazing. She couldn’t have done more for us if she had tried. She was always on the end of the phone if we had a question. The service we received was exceptional. The staff were so accommodating and welcoming to both us and our guests. We struggled for a long time to choose our menu. The choices were endless. However, on the day we were thrilled with our choice. The lamb was so tender and tasty while the seabass was simply delicious. I will most certainly be recommending the Armada to others. The service we received was exceptional. We had 250 seated guests join us at The Armada.
HIGHLIGHTS OF THE DAY
We had arranged a singing chef from Dublin to entertain our guests. He was amazing. We didn’t tell anyone, it was our little surprise. I think everyone was certainly surprised. He entertained everyone for 30 minutes between the main course and dessert. He had everyone standing up waving napkins and singing. It was spectacular and certainly worth the money!
THE HONEYMOON
We are heading to Mauritius and Dubai in Easter 2016 so we’re really looking forward to it. It is really lengthening our wedding experience for us!
