THE RECEPTION

The reception took place in the Landmark Carrick on Shannon. It is a fabulous hotel and the staff are incredible. I knew when I saw the reception area and ballroom that this was where I wanted to create my Festival/Circus themed wedding. The staff were just amazing on the day. As there was an event on the night before the wedding in the ballroom, I couldn’t set up everything the way I wanted it to be for the big day, so I had to leave a list with three A4 pages long of what I wanted done. I was quite nervous and anxious as I had so much work put into the wedding over the last few months, planning and creating and I had to leave all and hope that they would put everything the way I wanted it. And they did! I was actually in shock and so happy on the day to see what they did. I couldn’t believe what they did. They truly are amazing at their jobs. I can see now why they win so many awards. I would Highly recommend them. They went above and beyond for us.

HIGHLIGHTS

Where do we start, There was so many. Seeing everyone in the reception sipping on cocktails enjoying all the little extras I made, watching people getting caricature drawings done, while eating ice cream and cupcakes.  Watching the magician doing tricks with people, and watching the kids faces light up eating candyfloss, popcorn, and watching the balloon modeller make amazing balloons for them.

Watching our entertainer, DJ scruffy duffy entertain the guests from the moment they landed in the ballroom, to when the band came on. He was unbelievable. Like nothing you’ve seen at a wedding before. It was his first time to do a wedding show during dinner, and it was incredible. People where standing on their seats from the moment they entered the room, till the band came on.

The room was split into two teams. Glens all stars, and Elaine’s superstars. Throughout the meal the two teams battled it out. From a hilarious fashion show to battle of the bands. The crowd were alive and loved every minute of it. Of course Elaine’s all stars won it the end. Hearing people still talk about it to this day is amazing.

We finished off the night when the band finished in the night club attached to the ballroom, Which is literally only next door. Scruffy took to the decks yet again, from 12.30 to 4am. We enjoyed some great old skool tunes.

And to my surprise my dad had put together a small video of me from when I was seven years old to when I made my graduation. This was so lovely. He displayed it up on the screens in the night club. It was a lovely surprise, and really nice to look at on your wedding.

And finally the last part of the night, when we went to the residents bar. The hotel staff gave everyone curry chips! This was definitely a highlight of the night. Sitting with my husband, just the two of us, scoffing back curry chips with not a care in the world. Sadly we had no photographer at this point, but from what all our guests said this was the picture of the day.

HONEYMOON

We went a week after we got married. We wanted to try and visit as many places as possible during our three week honeymoon. So our Caribbean honeymoon started with three nights in San Jaun in Puerto Rico. This was fabulous, but quite expensive. Luckily we were only there for three nights. After that we went on a Caribbean Cruise, docking at a different island including  Barbados, St Martin, St Thomas, St Kitts and St Lucia every day.I would highly recommend this as a way of seeing the Caribbean. You get see so many places in the week, and the ship has some great entertainment every night such as musical shows, comedians, lots of bars, a night club and casino, it’s impossible to be bored. Finally we flew to Mexico, where we spent our last week in Cancun staying at the five star, all inclusive, Hyatt Zilara. This was paradise.
