Bride Grainne recalls special highlights from her stunning wedding to husband Robert Coloe
THE DATE
27th June 2015
THE LOCATION
The ceremony was held in The Galway Cathedral and the reception in The G hotel.
THE DRESS
It was a satin and lace mermaid style by Anna Ismenska with a sweet heart bodice and tulle fishtail underlay, purchased at The Bridal Emporium Miltown Malbay. Anne was so great and I really loved my dress shopping experience. I wore a Cathedral length veil with lace trimming which was made to match the lace on my dress. I had also removable straps made so it almost gave the dress two different looks and was great to remove them for all the dancing that was had that night.
HAIR & MAKEUP
Makeup: Aisling Kelly from Galway
Hair: Katrina Cullen from Ennis
THE PHOTOGRAPHER
Michael from Dillon photography was the photographer on the day and Gavin Gallagher from Dreamcatcher Productions was our videographer. I called them the dream team as they really were beyond amazing. There wasn’t a moment missed and Gavin played an amazing same day edit presentation for our guests that evening which beautifully captured our day. I can’t recommend these two gentlemen highly enough.
THE RECEPTION
The reception was chosen quickly after The Cathedral as the G hotel in Galway was everything we were looking for. We wanted a stylish venue with glamour and class and The G with its ultra chic and trendy decor fitted the bill perfectly.
The Grand Salon was beautifully set up for our drinks reception, I really loved that room as it had a great wedding vibe and the mirrored balls hanging from the ceiling was a big hit with our guests. Ingrid Madsen accompanied by a pianist created a great atmosphere for our drinks reception with their exquisite music. I could have listened to them all day.
The G suit just took my breath away. I remember walking in and seen our vision come to life, all the hard work had paid off and I was so excited to dance the night away with all our family & friends. The food & service from the G throughout the weekend of the wedding was impeccable. We are still getting complements on everything. The food was very important for us and we had high expectations but the g more than exceeded them.
I have to give the penthouse a special mention as it really had the wow factor. I loved getting ready there the morning of the wedding, and the decor was so trendy and modern which I quote is a photographers dream.
Rachel Shanaghy was our venue coordinator and I unfortunately don’t have enough space to rave on about how amazing she is. Nothing was ever too much trouble and she would always make us feel so special and welcoming when we came to the G. The day ran very smoothly and she was there every step of the way. It can be hard planning a wedding from the other side of the world but Rachel and her team at the G were a blessing.
HIGHLIGHTS
There really are too many to choose from as I’m sure all brides have trouble narrowing it down but to mention a few, I really loved the morning preparations in the penthouse with the girls and my family. Walking down the aisle with my dad to our chosen song it feels like home was very special. The ceremony was so beautiful and emotional, a few tears were shed between Rob & I during our vows but it was another special and meaningful moment. My sister Roisin read me the most heartfelt poem at the speeches, she wasn’t two lines in and we where both in tears, it really meant a lot to me. Dancing the night away with my husband was another favourite. The list goes on
HONEYMOON
We had two months off work in total. One month in Ireland for the wedding and one month for our honeymoon. After the wedding I was really looking forward to winding down and get pampered. Our first part of the honeymoon was spent in the Maldives. This place is just breathtakingly amazing, I’ve never seen anything like it. You have to see it to believe it. We stayed at The Finolhu Villa Resort & Spa in an over water sunset villa with the most amazing view of the ocean and clear blue skys. It was pure luxury and we really felt like celebrities it was just so perfect.
The second part of our trip we returned to where it all happed two years previous when Rob proposed In Koh Samui Thailand. Koh Samui is also very beautiful and has become really popular for honeymooners. We stayed in Bophut where you can dine on the beach every night and relax by the pool or on the beach by day. Over all it really was a trip of a lifetime and we are so blessed to have made so many beautiful memories that will be cherished forever.
