Not all celeb marriages only survive seventy two days like Kimmy K, many last the distance. We’ve take a look at some of the most famous home-grown and international celebrities whose relationships have grown stronger with time!

Nicky Byrne and Georgina Ahern Byrne

From childhood sweethearts to happily married parents of three, family life has been pretty sweet for former Westlife star Nicky Byrne and his lovely  wife Georgina Ahern Byrne, who will celebrate 12 years of marriage in August.  Nicky and Georgina’s love story began when they were both just teenagers; Nicky one fifth of chart-topping boy band Westlife and Georgina the daughter of then-Taoiseach, Bertie Ahern. Despite falling in love under the glare of the spotlight, the pair appear to have grown closer and stronger as time passes, sharing messages of love and affection on their Twitter accounts to mark their wedding anniversaries. While Nicky posted a picture of his and Georgina’s wedding shoes along with the message, “Our shoes still fit”, Georgina was clearly also in a gushy mood, sharing a video of Celine Dion’s ‘Because You Loved Me’, the song that was sung by Girls Aloud’s Nadine Coyle as she walked up the aisle on her wedding day.

While marriage and parenthood are two callings which take a lot of hard work and dedication, it appears that they have brought one particular enamoured celebrity couple even closer together. Hollywood superstar Hugh Jackman has been married to his wife Deborra-Lee Furness for 19 years, and the couple  admitted that family life with their two children Oscar and Eva gets better with each year. Speaking to Town and Country magazine in 2013, the ‘Wolverine’ star revealed that after meeting his true love, he found it difficult to refrain from popping the question, giving in to his heart after just four months! His wife also shared one of the secrets of their successful marriage – an exciting sex life! “I like him all ways,” said Deborra-Lee of her actor husband’s constantly changing appearance, “chubby, muscly, skinny. It’s like I’m always having affairs.” Hugh also praised his lovely wife during his Golden Globes acceptance speech when he walked away with the Best Actor gong for his portrayal of Jean Valjean in ‘Les Miserables’. Speaking on stage about a particularly difficult day of rehearsals during the filming of the epic musical after which he was tempted to quit, Hugh explained: “My wife talked me off the cliff like she does most days. Baby, I will say it in front of the entire world – thank you for always being right, baby. I love you.” Swoon!

Bono and Ali Hewson

They have been married for over 30 years and appear to have one of the strongest relationships not only within the Irish showbiz circuit, but also on an international level. Ali has been the source of inspiration for U2 songs, most famously, ‘The Sweetest Thing’, where she even makes an appearance in the video.  While Bono is one of the most famous faces in the music industry, still actively performing with U2, the couple also work together on a joint fashion venture, Edun, which is a global fashion brand established by the pair in 2005 that works “to promote trade in Africa by sourcing production throughout the continent”. People may say that mixing business with pleasure can put a strain on a romantic relationship, but for Bono and Ali, it seems to be working just fine!

Jamie and Jools Oliver

Another long-running celebrity couple who, despite huge levels of fame, always seem happy and content in their family life, is TV chef Jamie Oliver and his wife, Jools. Jamie, who is married to Jools for 15 years and has four children with her, was refreshingly honest about his relationship with his wife during a recent interview with the Daily Mail. “She’s known me way before I was famous and she’s been there through it all. We’ve had four kids, we’ve had our ups and downs and I’ve always been really conscious in the past to point out negative sides of my marriage…But I know we’re actually really, really good. I love Jools to bits, I think there’s loads more I could do to make her happier but as things go we are very happy and content.” The chef has become a household name both here in Ireland and the UK and even across the water in the United States, where he alerted students and parents alike to the hazardous ingredients contained in certain cafeteria foods and continues on his mission to help Americans fight obesity. However, aside from his achievements in business, he is adamant that his true accomplishments in life are closer to home. “I’m proud of my marriage. I’m proud of my kids and I’m proud of my wife,” he reveals. “Jools is a saint.”
